Our bedroom

When deciding the dimensions of the wardrobe, I took a coat hanger with me to make sure that we would be able to hang clothes properly sideways on - it has always bugged me on other boats when the clothes go from back to front of the wardrobe.

There is a pull out shelf at the base of the bed which provides the 'dressing table' plus a stand for the PC at night if I've retired to bed to watch a DVD. There's a fold-down shelf on the wall for Ian to put his early morning tea.

In the base of the bed is a small but very important little dial - it tells us when the black (foul) water tank is getting full and we need to start looking for a pump out. With our old boat Scimitar we always knew when a pump out was needed because of the list of the boat - the blackwater tanks were to the side of the boat - but Per Angusta's blackwater tank is along the centre line of the boat which means there is no list as it fills up.

There is directional lighting above the bed as well as the cabin lighting and - hard to see in the photo - running along the cabin side below the gunwhale is the 'bed bumper' which is closed cell camping foam covered in a soft material; this stops those cold shocks in the middle of the night if you role over into the side
