The layout (in theory)

Our shell has been built by Jonathan Wilson - it is his 'standard' build but with the following extras: Extra large hatch, side door and hatch, front lockers. It is 60 foot long and has a traditional, as opposed to a semi-trad or cruiser, stern.

The layout: We want the boat to be able to cope with family cruising - us, a daughter plus son-in-law plus two grandchildren (well - we think that we are likely to end up with four grandchildren, but the girls may surprise us). We also want to be able to use the boat comfortably for extended cruising once I retire. So, what have we got in our 60 foot?

The planned layout - which may well change as the fit-out progresses - gives us, starting at the stern: Combined engine room/utility room (approx 8ft 6in length) with a washer/dryer and a 12 v freezer. Extendable surface over washer/dryer and freezer which, when opened out, combines with surface in engine room to provide a bed platform of approx 6ft 6in x 4ft. Portholes. Then toilet (approx 2ft 6in length) with Lee Sanitation Sanicompact C43 dual flush toilet with electric flush to remote holding tank. Handbasin. Porthole, matching porthole in corridor.

Door through to Bedroom (approx 10ft length) with fixed double (approx size 6ft 6in x 4ft). Wardrobes with hanging space and drawers under, including pull out shelf. Slim cupboards under gunwhales between wardrobes and foot of bed. Portholes.

Door through to crossboat bathroom (approx 6ft length) with shower unit with bi-fold glass doors, Lee Sanitation Sanicompact C43 dual flush toilet with electric flush to remote holding tank (gauge and Microvent to tank). Corner handbasin. Obscured windows to both sides. Heated towel rail.

Door positioned between basin and toilet through to Galley (approx 9ft length). Houdini hatch. Cooker, fridge, microwave, sink under window, breakfast bar with window. Side doors opposite breakfast bar. Open plan salon (approx 11ft 6in) in length, windows to both sides. Stable doors to deck with glass to top half, matching windows beside doors. Except for the bathroom, fin radiators will be used with diesel fired central heating.
